fox steals fish

Its been bad. one after another the koi died Blame it on hot weather big fish small pond. they gone. So buried in a shoe box and put a stone on top. Fox came and scrabbled away and took him. end of an era

he was the original and great big fat koi.

Irony...found a dead fish in the pond a coupla months ago...laughed...said a seagull had dropped it it was so big...No. I realise now it must have been one of mine.

i think of all the fish that have gone missing.

Those expensive russian creep around the edge of the pond things that just dissapered...

I would ahve preferred the cat or fox to ahve had him away

I feel like shit that I could not /did not provide a better home for him

It has been a very bad year for the pond...no frog spawn has been the worst. No baby frogs to Mengele with.

And then the detah of the koi...you dont realise they are as big as they are when they are swimming around. The pond is too shallow and there is not enough oxygen. The pump packed up and i thought it would be Ok because it was October but the weather got warm and they could not breathe. Came home and therewas my pride and joy arse up.

Got out a shoe box and it was too small for him. Buried him at night with a torch in my moutg. Next day. another one. this time tangled up. Tasha had to pull him by his tail to get him out.

and its only a fucking fish for fuck sake!

bad news

a dead fish - a shebunkin - bigger than i remembered him being. and the frog spawn is dead. and mu has none either NOR sarah....what am I going to do?.

also this year we have our OWN frog spawn for the first time. I couldn't believe my eyes when i looked at the pond still covered over in the netting and one ton of spawn laid on top. I carefully removed it and put it in the fish tank but now I am nervous.

I am looking at it every day and wonder if I disturbed it too soon? There seems to be no life there.

Same thing last year I believe.

I am thinking about moving some of it to the water barrel...well all of it will have to go once they are born...
